King Charles, My Three Princes Won the Day

I can’t say it feels like déjà vu but the energy feels similar.  Thirty-two years ago my father woke me up in the wee hours of the morning and told me to come and watch history in the making.  It was the wedding of Charles and Diana – forever thereafter known as, Prince Charles and Lady Diana – whom, everyone affectionately called, Lady Di.  Starting from around 3:00 a.m. in the morning, Jamaica time, I watched the elaborate wedding in between yawns and nodding off.

Charles is about to embrace yet another significant milestone in his life – and he’s had many.  The heir who got the throne will be crowned King on Saturday May 6, 2023 in London, England.  While the world watch, I will likely sleep through this one.  Not because I don’t hear my father’s words ringing in my ears, come witness history in the making, but moreso, with the proliferation of news via every means possible and the repetitious news cycle, I am sure to catch history on the same day it happened.  Sorry daddy, I need my rest to take care of your three great-grand kids later, on coronation day – I have them for the weekend. I want to create some memories with them, so they too, can have a history to reflect on.
