It’s that time again when Jamaican high schools’ past students, all over North America, come together to hold fundraising events to help their alma maters. Dinthill Past Students’ Association, Atlanta chapter, headed by president, Collette Rankin-Johns, hosted their sixth annual dinner and dance in July and this year’s event was well supported by 1984 graduates who turned out in numbers. Planning committee member, Marcell Johnson was instrumental in bringing in the numbers through her social media campaign as well as personally reaching out to individuals.
The funds raised from this year’s event will go towards equipping the counseling department and to help students in need.
The evening started with Wayne Hall giving his opening remarks followed by Rev Leslie Nembhard (1984 graduate) doing the invocation. Former head boy, Easton Howell highlighted the organization’s goals and objectives and informed the audience of the accomplishments so far.
Dinthill’s New York chapter will be staging their “Maroon & Gold Affair Part II” on Saturday September 21st. Stay tuned for more updates on this event.
